Moving house can be a major upheaval, but there are times in our lives when we begin to realise it’s right to move on. Even though you may have been in love with your house when you first moved in, and felt satisfied that it provided the perfect home for you and your family, it’s inevitable that times and situations change.
If you’re reaching the stage of falling out of love with your current home, but are still weighing up the pros and cons of actually moving, there are a few common warning signs to look out for that could indicate that it’s time to move.
Reason #1: Family members have outgrown the size of your home
One of the most common signs that can tell you that it’s time to move to a new house is when you realize the fact that your present home has got too small for your needs. This case is mostly common among the starter homes. Do you remember your house or apartment to be this small at the beginning? If you notice the constant appearance of storage boxes here and there, if you find yourself waiting in front of the bathroom more often than you should or if your family are expanding fast, it’s perhaps high time to move somewhere bigger.
Reason #2: Your home is too big for your needs
None of the extremes are good for you. Just as you wouldn’t want a fairly small house, a large home can also be a reason for moving. Do you hear the resonating sound of the echo of your own voice? If all your kids have grown up and left the nest, there may be too much extra space. If there are too many unoccupied rooms which do nothing but bring back lost memories, you should ditch them as soon as you can.
Reason #3: The maintenance costs of your home have become too high
Whenever you’re caught between moving and not moving out, the only way in which you can resolve the issue is to check the present maintenance costs of your home. If you reside in a home that is pretty old, you might have reached a point when the repair costs are soaring out of control. If you see the repair costs eating your hard-earned cash, maybe it’s time to move to a smaller house.
Reason #4: Your home isn’t satisfying you anymore
If you just don’t feel satisfied or happy living in your current home anymore, then why stay? Find somewhere that does make you feel happy and gives you a new lease of life.
Once you’ve made the decision to move, it’s time to put your house on the market and start looking around at new properties. The house hunting stage can be a lot of fun, yet the hard slog of moving can be daunting. Don’t feel you’ve got to cope with it all on your own though, as movers are specialised in helping you move smoothly. As well as moving your furniture on the day you leave your old home, they’ll also help you pack up your belongings too, saving you time and stress during the busy moving period.
